Our History

The current building of the Islamic Center was built in 2002 and sits north of City and County Law Enforcement Building on 2.5 acres of land on Willow Street and nearly 60 persons can pray at a time in the prayer hall on the first floor. There were only 25-30 Muslim families living in the Siouxland area at that time and this building served us well for a few years.  Since then, a large number of new immigrant Muslim families from East African countries of Somalia and Ethiopia have arrived and settled here in South Sioux City as most of them found good paying jobs at the Tyson Foods Beef Packing Plant in Dakota City and Wells Dairy in Le Mars.
